U2 frontman Bono has voiced his support for Bruce Springsteen, joining a chorus of musicians standing by “The Boss” as Donald Trump intensifies his attacks. the move comes after Trump threatened to investigate Bono, despite the Irish musician not being a U.S. citizen and not participating in the 2024 election, over alleged illegal campaign contributions.
During a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live,Bono made it clear where he stood. Asked about the situation, he responded, “There’s onyl one Boss in America.”
Trump’s late-night Truth Social rant also targeted Beyoncé and Oprah Winfrey. bono quipped that he was in good company. “to be in the company of Bruce Springsteen, Beyoncé, and Oprah—I’d play tambourine in that band,” he said.
Bono also addressed the accusations directly, stating, “U2 and I have never been paid or played a show to support any candidate from any party. It has never happened. I know that it’s called Truth Social, it seems to be pretty antisocial, and it’s not very true a lot of the time.”
Bono’s support follows similar endorsements from Neil Young, Tom Morello, and Pearl Jam. Springsteen recently launched his 2025 Land of Hope and Dreams European tour in Manchester, using the prospect to criticize trump’s management as “corrupt, incompetent, and treasonous.”
Young addressed trump directly, saying, “Bruce and thousands of musicians think you are ruining America. You worry about that rather of the dyin’ kids in Gaza. That’s your problem. I am not scared of you. Neither are the rest of us.”
