Ministry of SMEs and Startups Recruits 200 Indian SW Developers to Support Small and Medium-Sized Venture Industries
The Ministry of SMEs and Startups, led by Minister Oh Young-joo, has launched a business aimed at recruiting 200 excellent Indian SW developers to support small and medium-sized venture industries struggling to recruit and retain software (SW) experts. The ministry has reviewed the interim performance of this initiative.
The Ministry of SMEs and Startups held three job fairs in New Delhi, India in February, attracting approximately 1,000 participants. The Venture Business Association, the organization in charge of the project, signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Pan-IT Alumni Foundation to recruit Indian SW developers who wish to work in Korea.
From February to August, 324 companies applied to participate in the recruitment process. Of these, 91 companies conducted 395 interviews, and 30 companies ultimately hired 103 Indian developers. Notably, 98 out of 103 recruits were hired remotely, working on projects in India without coming to Korea.
Indian developers are mainly involved in SW development and are employed in various fields such as AI development, mobile development, front-end development, and back-end development. Venture company M, which participated in this project, remotely hired three people in August and expressed satisfaction with the outcome.
Mr. Lee, CEO of venture company M, stated, “For our small and medium-sized venture company, hiring overseas SW developers is always a burden, but thanks to this project, I was able to take on the challenge, and I am very satisfied.” He added, “As we are preparing to launch an overseas service, we are receiving a lot of help in learning a global perspective and sensibility, and we plan to hire more.”
Kim Bong-deok, director of venture policy at the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, said, “For companies interested in hiring overseas developers, we plan to produce and distribute a manual that addresses issues that companies have found difficult or curious about while promoting their business. In addition, we will seek to additionally utilize international students studying in Korea to help SMEs and venture companies resolve their difficulties recruiting SW personnel and advance into the global market.”
