Irish energy provider Bord Gáis Energy has announced a gender pay gap in favor of women, marking a notable milestone in its diversity and inclusion efforts.
The company’s 2024 Gender Pay Gap Report reveals a -2% median gender pay gap in favor of women,with a mean gender pay gap of -1.7% also favoring women. This achievement is attributed to a surge in the number of women in senior management roles.
Bord Gáis Energy exceeded its 2022 goal of having at least 40% women in senior roles, with women now holding 44% of these positions. The executive team boasts an impressive 60% female representation.
“We are pleased with the progress we have made,” said Kerry McConnell, CFO at Bord Gáis Energy. “However, we are not complacent about either gender balance or other areas of diversity among our colleagues, and will continue to build towards parity and inclusion at all levels.”
While celebrating this success, the company acknowledges the need for further progress.
“We know, such as, that we need to encourage more women into the engineering and technician roles at Bord Gáis, as these are areas that have been more traditionally male in the past,” McConnell added.
Bord Gáis Energy has set a target of 30% of apprentice roles to be filled by women by 2030, up from its current 19%.
Managing Director Dave Kirwan expressed his delight with the results, stating, “I am delighted to report that our median pay gap is close to parity this year at -2.0% in favor of women.”
