Morocco’s Efforts to Combat Illegal Immigration

Morocco has⁣ recently released data on its efforts to combat illegal immigration, with a total of 45,015 attempts thwarted in 2024. This comes as the ⁢country prepares for a joint effort ‌with other African nations to address the issue.

Combating ‌Illegal Migration Attempts

According to‌ the Moroccan Ministry of Interior, the country’s Border and Coastal Control System has ‍been successful in aborting⁣ a ⁢significant number‌ of illegal migration attempts. This includes 11,323 attempts in the Fanideck Strait region and 3,325 attempts in the Nador ‍region.

Dismantling Criminal Networks

Morocco’s ‌security⁢ services have also ⁤dismantled 177 criminal networks specializing ⁣in ‍the smuggling of illegal immigrants. This is a significant step forward in the country’s efforts to combat organized crime and protect its borders.

Humanitarian Border Management

In addition to its efforts ⁢to combat⁤ illegal immigration, Morocco has also been working to provide humanitarian assistance⁣ to migrants in need. The country has rescued 10,589 migrants at sea and provided them with medical care, shelter, and guidance.

Morocco ​has⁣ called for a comprehensive and effective ‍fight against illegal immigration, ‍through strict coordination between all partner countries. The country has also emphasized the need for a responsible and ⁤solidarity commitment from all partners, especially those in West Africa and Spain.

Morocco has also recognized the role that social media plays‍ in attracting young⁤ people to illegal immigration.‌ The country has called on social media platforms to take responsibility for managing the content shared on their platforms and to work to prevent the spread of misinformation.
