Bosnian Soccer Club Fires Entire Team and Coach in Desperate Bid to Avoid Relegation
Tuzla, Bosnia and Herzegovina – In a stunning move, FK Sloboda Tuzla president Azmir Husić has fired the entire playing squad and coaching staff of the struggling Bosnian Premier League club. The decision comes after a disastrous first half of the season, with Sloboda languishing at the bottom of the table with only two points from 17 matches.
“Until now, about seven players have come to sign the dismissals, and I hope the others will do so in the coming days,” Husić told local media. He admitted the decision was “one of the most difficult days” of his tenure.
Husić, who took over as president in October, is also grappling with a dire financial situation. The club’s account remains blocked due to accumulated debts, making it even harder to operate.
“We don’t even know how many blockades have been accumulated,” Husić explained. “At one point, they said the amounts involved were lower, but after depositing the money, we received details that these amounts were substantially higher, and thus the account is still blocked.”
Despite the daunting challenges, Husić remains resolute to avoid relegation. With 16 matches remaining, he hopes to rebuild the team by recruiting players from the Tuzla region or the lower-tier First League of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“I think we can certainly form a better team than the one that took two points, even by recruiting only within the Tuzla Canton or the First League of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina,” Husić said, expressing cautious optimism.
The drastic move has sent shockwaves through the Bosnian football community, raising questions about the club’s future and the viability of such a radical approach. Only time will tell if Husić’s gamble will pay off and save Sloboda from relegation.

NewsDirectory3.com exclusive Interview
Following the amazing news of FK Sloboda Tuzla firing thier entire playing squad and coaching staff, we spoke with renowned football analyst and former Bosnian Premier League player, Emir Hadžibegić, to get his take on this unprecedented situation.
NewsDirectory3: Emir, what are your initial thoughts on FK Sloboda Tuzla’s decision to completely overhaul its squad mid-season?
Emir Hadžibegić: It’s certainly a drastic measure, one I haven’t seen taken in Bosnian football before. It speaks volumes about the dire situation the club finds itself in. While the team’s performance has been abysmal, firing the entire squad and coaching staff is a gamble with possibly disastrous consequences.
NewsDirectory3: Do you believe this move has any realistic chance of salvaging Sloboda’s season and avoiding relegation?
Emir Hadžibegić: It’s a long shot, to be honest. The remaining matches are crucial, and building a cohesive team from scratch in such a short time frame is incredibly challenging. However, they might find some hidden gems in the lower leagues, and the shock factor itself could inject some temporary motivation.
NewsDirectory3: What are the biggest challenges facing Sloboda Tuzla in their bid to rebuild?
Emir Hadžibegić: aside from the obvious time constraint, the club’s financial troubles are a major obstacle. Attracting quality players without stable finances will be near impractical.
NewsDirectory3: Beyond the sporting implications, what does this decision suggest about the state of football management in the Bosnian Premier League?
Emir Hadžibegić: It highlights a lack of long-term vision and strategic planning. This seems like a desperate, reactive move rather than a well-thought-out solution. It raises concerns about the overall stability and professionalism of some clubs in the league.
