A man⁢ attacked a group gathered at an ⁣outdoor mall in Boulder, ⁣Colorado, on Sunday, injuring ⁢eight people. The group⁤ was calling for the release of Israeli hostages⁤ in Gaza when Mohamed Sabry Soliman, 45,⁤ allegedly used makeshift incendiary devices and a flamethrower against them.

Soliman was arrested at the scene. FBI Director Kash Patel has described the incident as a terror ⁣attack. The Department of Justice condemned the Pearl Street Mall⁢ attack, noting it “follows recent attacks ⁣against Jewish Americans.”

FBI Special Agent Mark Michaelik stated that such attacks are becoming increasingly common, posing‍ a threat to communities nationwide. Colorado attorney General phil Weiser suggested⁤ the ‍attack “appears⁣ to be a hate crime” due ⁣to the targeted ⁤group.

Boulder Police chief stephen⁤ Redfearn said the attack ‍occurred around 1:30 p.m.local time. Soliman was hospitalized with minor ‍injuries. Authorities ⁣believe ⁤he acted alone.

The Boulder County Sheriff’s⁢ Office reported Soliman‍ faces two ⁣counts of first-degree murder, though authorities have not confirmed any deaths resulting from the attack, NBC News reported.
