BowFlex Adjustable Dumbbells Recalled Due to Impact Hazard

Johnson Health Tech Trading, in conjunction with the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), has issued a voluntary recall of BowFlex 552 and BowFlex 1090 adjustable dumbbells. The recall, announced thursday, involves nearly 4 million units due to the risk of weight plates dislodging during use, creating a potential impact hazard.

The adjustable dumbbells were available for purchase at Costco, Best Buy, Dick’s Sporting Goods, and online via Amazon and BowFlex’s website. The CPSC urges consumers to immediately cease using the recalled BowFlex adjustable dumbbells.
According to the CPSC, Johnson Health tech Trading and Nautilus have received approximately 350 reports of weight plates dislodging from the recalled dumbbells, resulting in 111 reported injuries, including concussions, abrasions, broken toes, and contusions. BowFlex Inc. had filed for bankruptcy in March 2024. Johnson Health Tech Trading has agreed to address the product recalls for the 552 and 1090 models sold by BowFlex Inc. prior to may 2024.

consumers who purchased the BowFlex 552 adjustable dumbbells from Costco should return them to the store for a full refund. Those who bought from other retailers should contact the Johnson Health tech Trading Customer support Team at 800-209-3539 between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. CT, Monday through Friday, or email recall@bowflex.com.
