Boy, 14, Arrested In Leeds Murder Investigation

A 14-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of 16-year-old Chloe Watson Dransfield in Leeds, West Yorkshire. The arrest comes as three other teenagers – Kayla Smith, 18, Archie Rycroft, 19, and a 17-year-old boy – have already been charged with her murder, according to reports from Sky News and the Mirror.
Chloe was found unconscious with stab wounds on Kennerleigh Avenue in the Austhorpe area of Leeds at approximately 5:55 am on Saturday, March 28th, 2026. She was taken to hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after, as reported by Sky News.
West Yorkshire Police confirmed the latest arrest on Thursday, April 2nd, stating that the 14-year-old remains in custody. The three previously charged teenagers appeared at Leeds Crown Court on Thursday, April 2nd, accused of Chloe’s murder. Smith and Rycroft appeared via videolink from separate prisons, while the 17-year-old appeared from a secure accommodation unit. No pleas were entered, and no applications for bail were made, Sky News reported.
A provisional trial date has been set for November 10th, though Judge Guy Kearl KC noted that this date is subject to change. All three defendants have been remanded in custody.
Police are urging members of the public to refrain from making comments or suggestions that could potentially jeopardize court proceedings, according to a statement released by West Yorkshire Police as reported by the Mirror.
Chloe’s family has released a heartbreaking tribute, describing her as “stunning, confident, loyal and honest.” They stated she was their “life, world, and best friend,” and that her loss has left a “big hole” in their hearts. Her family also spoke of her bubbly personality and the joy she brought to any room, according to Sky News.

Flowers and tributes have been left at the scene, with one message reading, “rest easy my Chloe. Love you forever my crazy girl,” as reported by Sky News. An 18-year-old man from Leeds remains in custody on suspicion of murder, while an 18-year-old woman and a 17-year-old boy who were previously arrested on suspicion of murder have been released on bail pending further inquiries, according to the Mirror.
