Martonio’s mother, Lashanda wilder, initially reported her son missing, claiming she last saw him the previous night. A search involving police dogs and a helicopter led to the grim discovery of Martonio’s body concealed in a rubbish bag.

The Franklin County prosecuting attorney revealed that an autopsy determined Martonio’s cause of death was asphyxia due to neck compression. The autopsy also uncovered evidence of prior abuse, including blunt force trauma, malnourishment, and dehydration. The child weighed only 35 pounds.
Lowe and Wilder turned themselves in to authorities on June 29, 2024. Lowe faced charges including murder, endangering children, felonious assault, tampering with evidence, and abuse of a corpse. She pleaded guilty to murder and gross abuse of a corpse.
Lashanda Wilder, 33, also faces multiple charges in connection with her son’s death. She has pleaded not guilty, and her next court appearance is scheduled for July 15.

The judge followed the prosecution’s recommendation, handing down the maximum sentence to Lowe. The 12-month sentence for gross abuse of a corpse will run concurrently with the life sentence for murder.
