BPerfect x Annalivia skincare range faces backlash as users report severe skin reactions, prompting an investigation and sales halt for teh popular cleanser.
Customers eagerly anticipating the launch of the highly anticipated “BPerfect x Annalivia” collection have been met with alarming reports of adverse skin reactions. Following the collection’s release on July 23rd, social media platforms were flooded with videos and testimonials from users claiming to have experienced breakouts and rashes after using the products.
The excitement surrounding the collaboration quickly turned to concern as users shared their experiences. One TikTok user, who stated she “never breaks out,” posted a video showcasing a notable breakout on her face, which she attributed to the new collection. Another user shared a photograph of his girlfriend’s face, detailing a “severe rash” that necessitated “immediate medical intervention.”
Online comment sections echoed these sentiments, with many users reporting their skin feeling ”on fire,” and also experiencing dryness and soreness. These widespread reports have raised serious questions about the safety and efficacy of the new skincare line.
BPerfect Responds: Cleanser Sales Paused Amidst Investigation
In response to the growing customer concerns, BPerfect founder, Shaun McDowell, has addressed the situation directly. In a statement on his Instagram stories, McDowell confirmed that the sale of the collection’s cleanser has been temporarily paused. He announced that a comprehensive investigation, involving the brand’s skincare experts and laboratories, will be launched to thoroughly examine the reported reactions.
“I’ve seen the feedback online with some of the reactions to the new Annalivia skincare range and I want to address it directly,” McDowell stated. “After reviewing everything, we have identified that the cleanser is what is causing some of the sensitivity for a small amount of people.”
McDowell emphasized that the rest of the range has received positive feedback, with the majority of customers experiencing no issues. However, he assured that the brand is taking all feedback seriously.
Safety standards and Precautionary Measures
“Even though the cleanser has passed all the safety tests and meets industry standards, as a temporary precaution, we have paused all sales while we do a full investigation with our skincare experts and our labs,” he explained.
The brand reiterated its commitment to customer satisfaction and product integrity, stating that they value all feedback received and it is “vital that we get this right.”
The Importance of Patch Testing and Customer Support
McDowell also took the prospect to remind customers about the importance of patch testing all new skincare products.”We always recommend doing a patch test, guys, with all skin products as everybody’s skin is entirely different. What works for one person will not always work for the next,” he advised. He assured customers that the brand takes all feedback “really, really seriously” and has taken immediate action despite the small number of reported issues compared to the overall sales volume. Affected customers have been advised to contact the BPerfect customer care team for assistance.
BPerfect, founded by McDowell in 2012, has grown to become a significant player in the beauty industry, with over two thousand stockists across Ireland, Northern Ireland, the UK, and globally. McDowell’s entrepreneurial journey includes an appearance on Ireland’s “Dragons’ Den” in 2017, where he secured investment, and a nomination for Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year.
BPerfect has been contacted for further comment on the ongoing investigation.
