Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium – The FIA Formula 3 qualifying session at Spa-Francorchamps delivered a thrilling spectacle, with Leonardo Benavides of AIX Racing snatching provisional pole position. However, the session was far from straightforward, marked by deleted lap times and a nail-biting finish that saw the top of the leaderboard reshuffled multiple times.
Benavides initially set a blistering pace, putting him on provisional pole. Yet, his final flying lap was deleted for exceeding track limits, a common penalty at the demanding belgian circuit. This setback momentarily dropped him to 22nd place, leaving him anxiously awaiting the outcome of the final attempts. Fortunately for the scuderia Ferrari Driver Academy member, his earlier reinstated time of 2:04.359 was ultimately good enough to secure him second place on the grid, though he had to endure a tense wait to confirm his position.
