Brad Pitt Cautions Actors on Superhero Role Pitfalls
Updated July 3, 2025
While promoting his latest film, F1, Brad Pitt shared some advice for up-and-coming Hollywood talent. Speaking on the New Heights podcast with travis and Jason Kelce, pitt cautioned against the allure of instantly jumping into franchises or superhero roles, a common path for many new actors.
Pitt expressed his enthusiasm for watching the next generation navigate the industry. Though, he voiced concern that they might easily fall into the trap of signing onto major franchises or superhero movies simply as of their prevalence.
“I like watching what the new generation is coming in with,” pitt said. “I like to see what they are up against and the way they negotiate and work their way through it. They enjoy it more. We were more uptight, and it had to be about acting… like, you didn’t sell out, you didn’t sell out.”
Pitt acknowledged and respects that newer actors explore art in various avenues. Still, he worries about the potential for big studios to quickly absorb them. “But they also get caught up in ‘you have to have a franchise’ or ‘have to have a superhero.’ But I keep saying, ‘Don’t! Don’t! They’ll die,'” he said.
The Kelce brothers agreed, noting how demanding the franchise path can be, particularly for younger actors.Pitt, who had a brief appearance in Deadpool 2,has largely avoided superhero films and cinematic universes, with the exception of the Ocean’s trilogy.
What’s next
Ironically, Pitt’s film, F1, could become a franchise itself. The film has become Apple’s biggest opening-weekend success, and discussions about a sequel are reportedly underway. Additionally, david Fincher is set to direct Pitt in a follow-up to Once Upon a time in Hollywood for Netflix, reprising his role.
