Derry legend Paddy Bradley is reportedly a strong contender to take the reins as the new Antrim senior football manager, RTÉ sport has learned. The Saffron County is actively seeking a successor to Andy McEntee, who stepped down after three seasons following thier Tailteann Cup quarter-final exit against Wexford.
A Familiar Family Legacy in Antrim
Should Bradley be appointed, he would follow in the footsteps of his father, Liam ’Baker’ Bradley, who previously managed Antrim. Liam Bradley guided the county to their last Ulster final appearance in 2009 and famously gave eventual All-Ireland champions Kerry a stern test in the qualifiers. The father-son coaching partnership was rekindled in 2014 when paddy served as a coach under his father for a second spell with the county.
Bradley’s Coaching Pedigree
Paddy Bradley, a former Donegal selector, has been steadily building his coaching experience in recent seasons. The Glenullin native, an All-Star recipient in 2007, has a proven track record at underage and club level. He has previously managed the Derry Under-20s and has enjoyed significant success with his home club,Glenullin,winning two oakleaf intermediate titles. He also led Newbridge to an intermediate championship title, showcasing his ability to develop and motivate teams.
Louth Set to Appoint Gavin Devlin
in related news, Louth is expected to announce Gavin Devlin as their new manager in the coming days. Devlin, a two-time all-Ireland winner with Tyrone, has prior experience with the Wee County, having been part of Mickey Harte’s backroom team. He has also been involved in Louth’s youth progress initiatives in recent times.Peter Dooley, who also served under Harte and his successor Ger Brennan, is anticipated to be part of Devlin’s coaching ticket, with further additions to the backroom staff expected. Fergal Reel is set to continue his work with the county’s U20s, having guided them to a Leinster title last season.
Reports suggesting Ger Brennan was set to return to his home county following his departure from Louth and Dessie Farrell’s exit from Dublin have been understood to be premature.
