A Nostalgic Journey Back to 1970s Television
The house famously featured in the opening credits of “The Brady Bunch” is opening its doors to the public for a limited time. The Studio City home, purchased by GTV in 2018 for $3.5 million – more than double the asking price – underwent a complete interior renovation to precisely replicate the onscreen set. The transformation was documented in HGTV’s ”A Vrey Brady Renovation,” which included appearances from the actors who originally played the Brady children.
As part of the renovation, HGTV added a second floor to the original structure to accommodate the show’s signature groovy spaces. The network then sold the property in 2023 to Tina Trahan, a historic-home enthusiast, and her husband, Chris Albrecht, a former HBO executive, for $3.2 million. Dirt.com reports that Trahan intends to preserve the home’s unique character.
Inside the Renovated Home
Current owner Alena martino announced the upcoming public tours, promising fans an immersive experience. “The home, in all its ‘Brady Bunch’ glory, has become ‘even more groovy with more remarkable vintage decor added,'” Martino stated. She emphasized that all areas of the house will be accessible, allowing visitors to “see every detail up close.”
The renovation aimed for meticulous accuracy, recreating details like the iconic orange shag carpet, wood-paneled walls, and the distinctive kitchen layout. HGTV consulted with production designers from the original series to ensure authenticity. HGTV’s official website provides behind-the-scenes details of the renovation process.
Supporting Animal Rescue
Proceeds from the three-day event will be donated to Wags and Walks, an animal rescue organization. Martino noted that the brady family’s beloved dog, Tiger, “would definitely approve!” of the charitable cause. Wags and Walks’ website details thier mission and programs.
Wags and Walks focuses on rescuing and rehabilitating dogs, providing them with medical care, training, and ultimately, finding them loving forever homes. The organization relies heavily on donations and volunteer support.
