Injury and Initial Fear
Professional wrestler Braun Strowman (real name Adam Scherr) recently revealed the extent of a debilitating injury sustained during a match, sparking fears his career might be over.Strowman described a sensation of instability promptly after the injury. “I go to take off. I’m really weeble wobbling. I give the rest of the match,” he recounted, referring to his inability to continue performing. The pain was described as intense and unusual: “While I’m out there in the ring and in the back, it feels like I’m having boiling water poured down my arms, or my fingers woudl go numb and go to sleep.”
The immediate concern was the potential end of his wrestling career and the impact on his life. “I’m literally freaking out, oh my God, my career is over. my day-to-day life’s over,” Strowman stated. He immediately thought of Stone Cold Steve Austin, whose career was also cut short by a similar injury. “Thankfully, I’m really close with Stone Cold Steve Austin; this injury was really, really similar to the injury that ended his career.”
Steve Austin’s Support and Surgical Intervention
Austin provided crucial reassurance during a difficult time. “I called Steve. Talk to steve a lot. He gave me a lot of reassurance and eased my mind with have the surgery. He’s had great success afterwards, no issues and stuff like that.” Austin’s positive experience following his own injury offered Strowman hope for a full recovery.
With the support of WWE,Strowman underwent surgery at Andrews Medical Center,a leading orthopedic facility. “WWE took great care of me, got me down to andrews medical, got me patched up. They threw a metal plate, four screws in there,” he explained, detailing the surgical procedure to stabilize his arm. Andrews Medical Center has treated numerous professional athletes, including those from the NFL and MLB (Andrews Sports Medicine, Athletes We’ve Treated).
From Recovery to “7 Foot Foodie”
During his recovery, Strowman began to contemplate life beyond the ring, leading to the development of his new food show, produced by WWE studios. He realized the importance of maintaining a connection with fans even if his wrestling career was curtailed. “I’m sitting there realizing, like, how truly blessed my life has been to this point, even if my career in the ring is over and all this other stuff, and having this epiphany, I guess, of how blessed I am, not only with my physical stature, but the ability that I have inside of me of putting smiles on people’s faces.”
The concept for the show, titled “7 Foot Foodie,” is based on Strowman’s personal eating habits. “I wish I could order everything on the menu,” he admitted, explaining the premise of ordering every item on a restaurant’s menu. The show aims to showcase his personality and provide entertainment for his fanbase while exploring his passion for food.
WWE’s Continued Support
WWE’s backing extended beyond medical care to include the production of Strowman’s new venture. WWE Studios’ involvement demonstrates the company’s commitment to supporting its talent both in and out of the ring. WWE Studios has previously produced films like “The Marine” series and “Countdown” (WWE Corporate, WWE Studios).
