Windham Rotunda, known to wrestling fans as Bray Wyatt, tragically passed away on August 24, 2023, at the age of 36 due to a heart attack in his sleep.His death followed a period of health challenges for his family, including his father, Mike Rotunda, a WWE Hall of Famer.
Kiwanis Invitational Renamed in Rotunda’s Honor
The long-standing Kiwanis Invitational high school wrestling tournament will be renamed the Windham Rotunda Memorial Invitational, as announced by tournament director pritz. This change,made with the support of the Rotunda family and the Brooksville Kiwanis,aims to honor Rotunda’s legacy as a memorable athlete. The 44th annual tournament will also feature a scholarship fund established in his name, awarded to one senior wrestler before the finals.
“Windham was my teammate and one of the most memorable athletes to ever wear the Purple and Gold,” Pritz stated. “I hope this can be a small tribute to his lasting legacy. He is a true legend and someone we will never forget.”
Mike Rotunda’s Ongoing Recovery
Windham’s sister, Mika Rotunda, shared the news of the tournament renaming with their father, Mike Rotunda, resulting in a deeply emotional moment for both.This news comes as Mike Rotunda continues his recovery from a massive heart attack suffered on September 20, 2023. According to Mika, her father spent a week in a coma and a month in the hospital, and is currently receiving rehabilitation care as reported by Wrestleview.
