Brazil’s Right-Wing⁤ Rally for Democracy and ‍Freedom Amid Social Media Blockage

Brazil’s ⁣right-wing movement, led by former President Jair Bolsonaro, is set to hold a rally in support of democracy and freedom on Independence⁣ Day, amidst a heated debate⁢ over freedom of expression following the⁢ blockage of ‍his preferred social ⁢media platform, X.

The rally, scheduled to take place in Sao Paulo, Latin America’s largest city, coincides with the country’s Independence Day celebrations in⁢ the capital city of Brasilia, ⁣where leftist President Luiz ‌Inacio Lula da Silva will attend a parade.

In a video message, ⁣Bolsonaro ⁤urged his supporters ⁤to attend the rally in large numbers, donning the green and yellow colors of the Brazilian flag.

“Celebrating our ⁤freedom is meaningless if we are deprived of it,” ⁢Bolsonaro ‌emphasized in an Instagram post, highlighting the importance of‌ exercising one’s right to free expression.

The rally serves as ⁤an opportunity for Bolsonaro to demonstrate his enduring political influence, particularly with municipal elections just around⁣ the corner ‌in a country ‌grappling with intense political polarization.
