Brazil Advances to Quarter-Finals in FIFA Women’s World Cup
Sharjah 24 – Asad Khalil: Brazil’s national team has qualified for the FIFA Women’s World Cup quarter-finals after a thrilling comeback against Cameroon.
Cameroon took the lead in the 22nd minute with a goal from Naomi Eto’o. However, Brazil equalized in the 35th minute through Presiller’s goal, drawing the match 1-1 in regular time.
In the extra two halves, Brazil scored two goals through Dodinha in the 91st and 4th minutes of second half stoppage time, securing a 3-1 win.
Spain and Colombia Also Advance
Spain qualified for the quarter-finals with a 2-1 win over Canada. Florian Jordi’s goal in the 63rd minute gave Canada the lead, but John Amezaga equalized for Spain just 100 seconds later. Silvia Lloris scored the winning goal for Spain in the 81st minute.
Colombia defeated South Korea with a goal from Linda Caicedo in the 65th minute, advancing to the quarter-finals.
USA Secures Quarter-Final Spot
The American team defeated Mexico 3-2 to advance to the quarter-finals. Petra Tordin gave the Americans the lead in the 10th minute, but Valeri Vargas equalized for Mexico in the 22nd minute. Ally Centenor took the lead again for the USA in the 38th minute, but Angelico Salvidar equalized in the 10th minute.
The match went into extra time, where the American team scored the winner in the 97th minute through substitute Jordin Dudley.
