Botafogo star Luiz Henrique has been named the best footballer in the Americas, according to a prestigious annual poll conducted by Uruguayan newspaper El País.

The 22-year-old forward dominated the voting, securing the coveted title of “Rey de América” with an notable 128 votes from a panel of 244 journalists across the continent. This landslide victory saw him surpass Venezuelan winger Jefferson Savarino (25 votes) and Colombian midfielder Juan Fernando Quintero (17 votes).

Henrique’s triumph marks a notable moment for Brazilian football and solidifies his status as one of the most exciting young talents in the game. His electrifying performances throughout the Copa Libertadores saw him score four goals and provide three assists, earning him the tournament’s Most Valuable Player award. He continued his impressive form in the Brazilian League, netting seven goals and contributing three assists.
