Brazil’s Elite Buy Bombardier Global 8000: The World’s Fastest Jet

by Victoria Sterling -Business Editor

The global business jet market is experiencing a shift towards larger, longer-range aircraft, and Brazilian entrepreneurs are among the early adopters. Recent orders for the Bombardier Global 8000, the world’s fastest business jet, demonstrate a growing appetite for ultra-high-end aviation within the country, even as the broader market sees growth across all segments.

The Global 8000, recently certified in the US and Europe, boasts a top speed of Mach 0.95 (1,160 km/h) and a range of 8,000 nautical miles (15,000 km), enabling non-stop flights between São Paulo and Sydney. According to reports, the Batista family of JBS, André Esteves of BTG Pactual, and João Adibe of Cimed have all placed orders for the aircraft, which carries a price tag of at least US$80 million.

This demand comes as Brazil’s overall business aviation sector continues to expand. The Brazilian General Aviation Association (ABAG) reports a 35% increase in the national fleet over the past two years. Historically, smaller aircraft have dominated the Brazilian market, serving the needs of executives navigating the country’s vast geography and often-congested infrastructure. Embraer, with its Phenom 100, has long been the market leader in this segment.

However, a trend is emerging towards larger, more capable jets. Owners of turboprops are upgrading to jets, and existing jet owners are seeking larger models. This represents reflected not only in the interest in the Global 8000 but also in the early sales of the Dassault Falcon 10X, with two of the first units sold globally going to Brazilian businessmen Alexandre Grendene and Leila Pereira.

The increasing demand for high-end business jets is linked to the growing internationalization of high-net-worth Brazilian families. Fernando Fleury, head of the private bank at Citi Brazil, explained that this trend is driving demand for aircraft capable of supporting global travel. “We see this priority reflected even in the family offices, which today have teams dedicated to the demands of aviation, such as the care of pilots, maintenance, hangarage and flight plans,” Fleury said.

Bombardier recognizes the potential of the Brazilian market and believes the Global 8000 can address the challenges faced by Brazilian business leaders with global ambitions. The aircraft officially launched in May 2022, with the first delivery taking place in December 2025 to Canadian businessman Patrick Dovigi, CEO of Green For Life Environmental.

Beyond its speed and range, Bombardier emphasizes the Global 8000’s comfort features. With five cabin zones and seating for up to 19 passengers, the jet offers a low cabin altitude, reduced noise levels, and a smooth ride thanks to its flexible wings. Its runway performance – requiring just 1.7 km for takeoff and 700 meters for landing – is also a key selling point, allowing access to a wider range of airports.

Current Global 7500 owners can upgrade to the 8000 for approximately US$5 million, including updates to the engine software and fuel system. This upgrade path provides an attractive option for existing Bombardier customers looking to benefit from the latest technology and performance enhancements.

Citi, which provides financing for medium and large business jets in 28 countries, identifies Brazil as a key market and anticipates continued growth. The combination of a robust economy, a growing number of high-net-worth individuals, and the country’s geographical challenges are all contributing to the increasing demand for business aviation.

The Global 8000’s arrival signals a new era for business aviation in Brazil, catering to a segment of the market that prioritizes speed, range, comfort, and access. While smaller aircraft will continue to play a vital role, the demand for ultra-long-range jets is poised to increase as Brazilian businesses expand their global footprint.
