The perfect balance: not too little, not too much
In a study published in The Journal of Nutrition, Health and Aging, Spanish researchers analyzed the diets and health status of 383 adults aged 55 to 75 from a hospital in Barcelona. Their conclusions are simple but surprising: those who eat between 20 and 30% of their daily intake of calories at breakfast they have a lower body mass index (BMI) and a slimmer waist.
Simply put, the “sweet spot” is between 500 and 750 calories for men and 400-600 for women.Less than that, researchers say, doesn’t provide enough energy, and more can lead to fat storage.
