Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz issued a royal decree to form the Shura Council on Monday. The council will be led by Sheikh Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al-Sheikh, with Dr. Mishal Bin Fahm Al-Sulami as Vice President and Haran Binte Abdul Rahim Al-Ahmadi as Assistant Chairman.

The new Shura Council will have a 4-year term, with 148 members, including 77 new members and 71 members from the last session. While the Shura Council does not have legislative powers, it plays an important role in making recommendations to the government about the country’s general policies.
