Strengthening Cooperation for Better Visibility and Dissemination of ECOWAS Achievements
The ECOWAS Commission, in partnership with the West African Media Institute (MFWA), is organizing a two-day strategic meeting with Directors General of Public Media from ECOWAS Member States. The meeting, scheduled for September 5-6, 2024, at the ECOWAS Commission headquarters in Abuja, Nigeria, aims to strengthen cooperation between ECOWAS and State media for better visibility and dissemination of credible and high-quality information and programs on ECOWAS Achievements across Member States.
The consultative meeting with heads of government media also seeks to develop and implement a strategy to strengthen the role of national media in the fight against disinformation and in realizing the ECOWAS Vision 2050 of people, peace, and prosperity for all, on the threshold of the sub-regional organization’s 50th anniversary.
The meeting is part of the ECOWAS Commission’s efforts to promote a culture of peace, stability, and cooperation among its Member States, and to ensure that the national media plays a key role in promoting the values of ECOWAS and its vision for a prosperous and peaceful West Africa.
