Professor Shen Yiping Publishes Paper in The BMJ, a World-Renowned Medical Journal
Professor Shen Yiping, director of the Genomic Medicine and Health Industry Research Center at our school, has made a significant contribution to the field of medical research. His paper, “Research Key Points for the Prevention and Control of Birth Defects in China in the Era of Genomic Medicine,” has been published in The BMJ, one of the world’s most authoritative medical journals.
Professor Shen Yiping, along with Professor Wang Hongyan of Fudan University, Associate Researcher An Yu of the Human Phenome Research Institute of Fudan University, and Professor Ma Yanlin of the First Affiliated Hospital of Hainan Medical University, discussed four key issues facing China in the field of prevention and control of birth defects. These issues include the assessment of the incidence of genetic diseases, the definition of disease severity, the construction of a genetic counseling system, and cost-benefit analysis. Solving these key issues will provide important reference for birth defect prevention and control strategies in China and even the world.
