Joint Academic Conference on Digital Platform Tying Practices
(Sejong = Yonhap News) Reporter Jaehyun Park = The Korea Fair Trade Mediation Board and the Korea Society of Industrial Organization held a joint academic conference on the 27th at the conference room of the Korea Fair Trade Mediation Board under the theme of ‘Issues and issues related to tying practices of digital platforms’.
Cho Jeong-won held this academic conference to collect opinions from external experts such as the Society of Industrial Organization and share research results regarding this year’s research results in the field of economics.
In his opening speech, Director Choi Young-geun said, “The key task is to maximize the efficiency of the platform economy while suppressing the foul play of large platform operators,” and added, “Constant debate and debate between academia and the working world is needed regarding the direction of proper competition law enforcement.”
Presentations and Discussions
In the following session, presentations and discussions were held on the topics of ‘Anti-monopoly regulation of tying activities in digital platforms’ and ‘Tying and new leverage theory in two-sided markets’.
Jo Jeong-won said, “We plan to continue to strive to conduct timely fair trade research based on active communication with academia.”
