Free Movement within Cemac: A Key to Regional Integration

Martin Mbarga Nguele, Representative General to the National Security (DGSN) of Cameroon, emphasizes the importance of free movement of people within the Central African Economic and Financial Community (Cemac).

To achieve better regional integration, the DGSN, Martin Mbarga Nguele, stresses the need for free movement within Cemac. This reminder was addressed to border police officers, regional representatives, and heads of immigration posts.

The chief of police of Cameroon notes that, in accordance with additional law No. 05/19-Cemac-070 U-CCE, all nationals of Cemac member states can travel without a visa, provided they present a biometric passport or a valid identity card. This directive aims to strengthen regional integration and facilitate trade within CEMAC.

This communication comes ahead of the 4th regular session of the Committee of Chiefs of Police of Central Africa, scheduled for Yaoundé between September 17 and 20. During this session, participants will examine free movement policies. Although this initiative has been in place since 2017, difficulties remain, especially in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea, making the effective application of the directives essential.
