SPOILER ALERT: This article contains major spoilers for Sam raimi’s “Send Help,” now playing in theaters.
Sam Raimi’s “Send Help,” written by Damian Shannon and mark swift, delivers a series of unexpected twists. The film, released Friday by 20th Century Studios, centers on a corporate executive stranded on a deserted island with the company’s new, entitled CEO.
Rachel McAdams plays Linda Liddle, a skilled numbers person passed over for a Vice President position by Bradley Preston (Dylan O’Brien), the new CEO and son of the previous owner. Despite being promised the role by his father,Bradley hires a friend instead and invites Linda on a seemingly pointless international trip as a personal assistant while he golfs.
Their trip takes a dramatic turn when the private plane crashes, leaving Linda and Bradley as the sole survivors on a deserted island.Ironically, Linda’s extensive knowlege of survival skills – gleaned from watching “Survivor” and reading adventure novels – proves invaluable. She quickly establishes shelter, builds fires, and crafts essential items like hats and backpacks.
Despite Linda’s efforts, Bradley remains rude and demanding, carrying his office arrogance into their desperate situation. He eventually realizes his dependence on Linda and offers an apology, leading to a temporary truce.
Though, the film takes a sharp turn when Linda discovers bradley isn’t actually injured. He faked the injury to manipulate her and exploit her skills. She then learns he deliberately sabotaged the plane, intending to kill his father and inherit the company.
linda turns the tables, using her survival knowledge to trap Bradley. she broadcasts a distress signal, but instead of rescuers, she summons the authorities to arrest him for attempted murder and aviation sabotage. The film ends with Bradley’s arrest and Linda finally getting the recognition she deserves.
