Alfred Bulai’s Case: Former Teacher Faces​ Charges of Sexual Assault and Abuse of Office

Before ⁤the Magistrates, Bulai’s Statement

Alfred Bulai, the former teacher, ⁢appeared before the⁤ magistrates and expressed uncertainty about the sexual significance of games organized‍ during training‍ sessions. However, he ⁢acknowledged that students may have performed sexually suggestive skits and that teachers and students sometimes used‍ indecent language.

The Preventive Arrest and Charges

The preventive arrest was decided on Thursday, September 5,⁣ by ⁤District Court 1, but ⁤the‍ decision is not final. Prosecutors from the Prosecutor’s Office‍ attached to the 1st District Court ⁣requested that he ‍be arrested for 30 days in connection ​with the allegations of sexual‌ assault and abuse of⁢ office for ⁣sexual ‌purposes. Daniel Nedela, the chief prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office,‌ said that Bulai‌ was charged with⁣ two crimes of sexual assault and ⁣two of ‌sexual abuse⁤ for the purpose of abuse of office.

Incidents of Alleged Abuse

According to ⁤the prosecutors, one of the incidents happened in July 2022, during an internship in Sadova ⁣commune, Suceava. During a one-to-one feedback ⁤session, ⁣it ⁤is ⁤alleged that Bulai put psychological pressure on a female student, morally forcing her to remove her shirt for sexual gratification. During the⁤ same period,‍ it is alleged that he tried to forcefully kiss⁢ her, hug her, and touch her sexually. Also, between December 2023 and May 2024, he would have asked for sexual ⁢favors through repeated suggestions.

Prosecutor’s Statement

Daniel Nedela emphasized that any type of sexual abuse is unacceptable and ⁣that the Public Ministry will act firmly‍ to⁣ protect dignity and integrity in the educational environment.
