Cabinet Decisions
Cabinet members noted that several regulations have been published under the Fisheries Act 2023, including the Local Government (Municipal Tax Exemption on Family Homes) (Amendment) Regulations 2024.
Regulations Published Under the Fisheries Act 2023
The following regulations will be published under the Fisheries Act 2023:

The Fisheries (Automatic Identification System) Regulations 2024, which will allow the Fisheries Monitoring Center and the National Coast Guard to monitor the movement of vessels and fishing activities.

The Fisheries (Electronic Reporting System) Regulations 2024, which will provide for the responsibilities and obligations of operators of fishing vessels.

The Fisheries (Vessel Monitoring System) Regulations 2024, which will set out the responsibilities and obligations of fishing vessel operators relating to the installation and operation of a mobile transmitter on board their vessels.

The Cabinet has also agreed to:

Publish the Consumer Protection (Import and Sale of Second-hand Motor Vehicles) Regulations (Amendment No. 3) 2024.

Issue the Local Government (Municipal Tax Exemption on Family Homes) (Amendment) Regulations 2024 to simplify the procedures to allow Town Councils to refund the Municipal Tax already collected.

Amend 32 Pay Regulations to provide for employers to pay arrears for salary relevance adjustment.

Implement the National Screening Program for Colorectal Cancer by the Ministry of Health and Wellbeing.
International Cooperation
The Cabinet has noted the implementation status of 96 small development projects funded under India’s Grant Aid across Mauritius, including Rodrigues and Agalega.
The Cabinet has also noted the outcome of the signing ceremony between Mauritius and the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) held during the official visit of Mr Mathias Cormann, Secretary General of the OECD, to Mauritius.

Launch an Expression of Interest to invite Non-Governmental Organizations to establish dog shelters in four areas.

Organize walks in 18 regions across Mauritius to mark World Walking Day.

The Cabinet has taken note of the reconstitution of several committees, including:

The Investment Committee of the National Pension Fund and the National Savings Fund.

The Climate Management and Sustainability Committee.

The Technical Committee of the National Savings Fund.

The Financial Services Board.

The Council of Professional Quantity Surveyors.
