Debunking the Rumors: Hamas Leader Yahya Sinwar’s Alleged Assassination
Recent reports on social media claimed that Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar was killed in an airstrike. However, these claims have been found to be false.
Upon verifying the news, it was discovered that neither Hamas nor any reputable media outlets have announced Sinwar’s assassination. In fact, several Israeli media outlets have denied these reports.
The Israel Defense Forces stated that the Israeli Internal Security Service (Shin Bet) “rejects this possibility and believes that Sinwar is alive.” Additionally, the Israeli army clarified that “we do not confirm or deny it.”
Israeli journalist Barak Ravid quoted officials with direct knowledge, stating that Israel did not have accurate information indicating Sinwar’s assassination. An Israeli official was also quoted, saying that “it’s all just hope and speculation” based on Sinwar’s isolation in recent weeks.
Two Israeli officials told me that Israel has no positive intelligence that Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar is dead. “It’s all hope and speculation based on the fact that Sinway has been out of touch in recent weeks,” an Israeli official told me.
