The date of Palakkad by-election has changed. The by-elections scheduled for 13th of this month have been postponed to 20th. The polling date has been rescheduled due to Kalpathi Rathotsavam. The Election Commission has issued an order in this regard.
Several political organizations have called for the election date to be changed. By-elections in 14 constituencies in the states of Kerala, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh have been altered. Meanwhile, the elections in Chelakara and Wayanad will be held as scheduled on the 13th.
Congress candidate Rahul came to Mangoota to welcome the change in the election date. Meanwhile, minister MB Rajesh said the election change was announced late and the decision could have been taken a little earlier.
Earlier, various fronts had come forward with demands to change the date of elections in Palakkad assembly constituency. Congress, BJP and LDF leaders have come forward with the demand.
November 13 is the first day of Kalpathi Rathotsavam. For this reason the leaders ask that the elections of 13, 14 and 15 November be avoided.
Since this is an important celebration in which the population of the neighborhood takes part, the elections will be influenced by the fronts. Kalpathi is also a densely populated area. Furthermore, there are many polling stations there.
