Brenda Frese Celebrates 25 Seasons at Maryland with Shay Doron

Brenda Frese reaches her 25th season leading the University of Maryland women’s basketball program, marking a major milestone for the Terrapins head coach. According to University of Maryland Athletics, Frese sat down with Terrapin basketball legend Shay Doron to launch the first episode of a special anniversary series celebrating her tenure in College Park.

The milestone comes as Frese prepares the program for another competitive campaign in the Big Ten. University of Maryland Athletics reported that the retrospective conversation covers key moments from Frese’s quarter-century leadership on the sidelines.

Doron, a standout guard who played under Frese during Maryland’s rise to national prominence, joined the program’s commemorative kickoff as the inaugural guest. University of Maryland Athletics noted that the special series explores the evolution of the Terrapins under Frese’s guidance, highlighting historic victories and program culture.

Frese took over the Maryland job ahead of the 2002-2003 season, quickly transforming the Terrapins into a national powerhouse. University of Maryland Athletics records show her tenure includes the 2006 NCAA national championship, numerous conference titles, and consistent appearances in the postseason.
