Mbeumo Completes Dream £65m Move to Manchester United, Hails Club as “Biggest in the World”
Manchester United have officially announced the signing of Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford for a fee of £65 million, perhaps rising to £71 million wiht add-ons. The 25-year-old forward has put pen to paper on a contract until 2030, with an option for a further year, marking a significant moment in his career as he fulfills a lifelong ambition.
The Cameroon international’s arrival at Old Trafford concludes a seven-week saga involving tense negotiations between the two clubs.Mbeumo expressed his overwhelming joy and excitement at the prospect of following in the footsteps of legends at what he describes as the “biggest club in the world.”
“From the start I wanted to join this club, this massive club, and now I’m here and I’m just really happy,” Mbeumo told club media. “For me, it’s the biggest club in the world, in England as well. I think the fans are crazy,the stadium is amazing,and I think every player wants to play here.”
A Lifelong Dream Realised
Mbeumo’s connection with Manchester United runs deep, with the forward revealing that his first football shirt was a United jersey bearing the name of Cristiano Ronaldo. This personal anecdote underscores the magnitude of the move for the player.
“I think my first top was a Manchester United top with Ronaldo behind. It’s just such a big club and, yeah, I’m really happy to be here,” he shared, highlighting the inspiration he drew from the Portuguese superstar.
Growing up in France, Mbeumo idolised footballing icons such as Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, while also admiring the flair of Neymar and Eden Hazard. His move to United sees him join fellow new signing Matheus Cunha in an effort to bolster a United attack that has been identified as an area needing reinforcement.
Building Team Spirit and Embracing New Challenges
Mbeumo is eager to integrate with his new teammates and is particularly looking forward to the upcoming pre-season tour in the United States. He believes that fostering strong relationships within the squad from the outset is crucial for success.
“I think it’s really significant for me joining a new club,” Mbeumo stated. “It’s important to create links as soon as possible, automatism as well with the team-mates, so in and out the pitch. The spirit is really important. Yeah, create a group, being involved quickly, for me, it’s something really important.”
The forward arrives at United having scored an impressive 20 Premier League goals for Brentford under the management of Thomas Frank. frank has as moved to Tottenham,and Mbeumo sees similarities between his former manager and united’s new boss,Ruben Amorim.
“I think they have similar values,” Mbeumo commented. “He seems really close to his players and his mentality,his winning thinking every time. This is a thing that I need. It seems to be a really good group. I think the spirit is really important for winning and,yeah,with the gaffer I heard only good things about the team.”
Mbeumo’s arrival is expected to inject fresh energy and attacking prowess into the Manchester United squad as they prepare for the new season.
