New York-based singer-songwriter Brian dunne is set to release his new album, “Clams Casino,” on Sept. 5 via Missing Piece records. The album, a blend of indie-rock and Paul Simon-esque vibes, features 10 tracks, many recorded in Dunne’s Brooklyn apartment.
The title track, also named “Clams casino,” encapsulates the album’s theme: finding joy in small luxuries amid financial struggles. dunne, also a member of the Americana rock band Fantastic Cat, released the song with a music video filmed at Pitt’s restaurant in Brooklyn.
Dunne reflects on the song’s meaning, stating it questions the difficulty of attaining simple pleasures and the desire for a better life. He describes the verses as exploring working-class struggles, shame, and self-awareness.
“I remember seeing the name on menus when I’d go out to eat with my parents. it’s kind of an East Coast regional dish that doesn’t really exist anymore — it’s what a working man thinks a rich man eats,” Dunne saeid.
Dunne previewed “Clams Casino” with the single “Play the Hits” last month. He will be touring this summer and fall, both as a solo act and with Fantastic Cat, in support of their album, “Now That’s What I Call Fantastic Cat.”
