Bribery Scandal Rocks Ministry: Khaled bin Karr al-Harbi Found Guilty in Shocking Corruption Case
Former Public Security Director Convicted of Corruption and Sentenced to 10 Years in Prison
A recent announcement by the Ministry of Interior in Saudi Arabia has revealed that Lieutenant General Khaled bin Qarr al-Harbi, the former Public Security Director, has been convicted of corruption and sentenced to 10 years in prison.
The conviction is based on Royal Order No. A/60 dated 1/30/1443 AH, which terminated al-Harbi’s service and referred him to retirement due to several crimes, including misappropriation of public funds, bribery, and abuse of power for personal gain.
The Corruption Authorities initiated an investigation against al-Harbi and sent him to the appropriate court under the Criminal Procedure Code. The court issued a final verdict convicting him of bribery, fraud, and abuse of power, and sentenced him to imprisonment for 10 years.
In addition to the prison sentence, al-Harbi was also fined 1,000,000 Saudi Riyals, which will be deposited into the public treasury of the state. He was also convicted of exploiting government contracts and embezzling public funds, for which he will serve an additional 10-year prison sentence.
The court also ordered al-Harbi to forfeit the amount of bribe received, totaling 10,084,303 Saudi Riyals, and to return the embezzled money, totaling 2,827,000 Saudi Riyals, to the general treasury of the state. Furthermore, he was ordered to return financial assistance given to his relatives in the form of confiscated gifts or bribes, totaling 175,000 Saudi Riyals.
The Ministry of Interior announced this conviction to emphasize the government’s commitment to protecting public funds, fighting corruption, and enforcing regulations against violators.
