Landslide on Bride’s Pool Road Causes Road ‌Closure

A landslide occurred ⁢on Bride’s Pool Road in the New Territories, causing a retaining wall near Sandanluo to collapse. The incident happened at around 6:00 am, resulting in debris scattered on the traffic lane and ‌a lamppost being bent by‍ the mud. The entire site ⁢is currently closed.

The fire department received⁣ a report that a private car was trapped, and the fire disaster⁤ response and ⁤rescue team arrived at the scene to investigate. Using life detectors,⁤ they confirmed that no one ‍was trapped, and the incident did not cause any casualties.

The Highways Department dispatched a large⁣ number of large-scale machinery to help clear the collapsed sand and mud on the slopes and roadsides as soon as possible, aiming to open one of the traffic⁣ lanes as soon ‍as possible. Geotechnical engineers from the Civil Engineering and Development Department were also sent to inspect the scene and assist relevant departments in handling the incident on site.

Incident Details

The landslide occurred on the slope above Sam Tam Lok on Bride’s Pool ⁤Road, causing the two lanes‌ of traffic on this ‍road section to be‍ temporarily closed. The area of the landslide was approximately 17 meters (length) by 16 meters (width). According to preliminary inspection, the landslide ⁤was caused by continuous ‌heavy ⁢rain in recent days.

The⁤ Highways Department has started carrying out the necessary emergency slope works to reopen the road as soon as safe. The public is advised to remain vigilant and stay away from slopes as much as possible, as there is still a chance that the rainbands associated with Typhoon Capricorn ‍will continue to⁢ affect Hong⁣ Kong.

Affected by the landslide, KMB Route 275R has ⁤suspended service, and the entire route is currently closed. The Civil Engineering and Development Department is working to clear the debris and reopen the road as soon as possible.
