Competition in AI development is intensifying globally, with countries protecting their domestic data and investing heavily in AI technology. However, experts emphasize the need for global cooperation to prevent the abuse of AI technology and ensure a digital shared prosperity society.

Robert Trager, Director of AI Governance at Oxford University’s Martin School, highlighted the importance of global cooperation in AI development during his special lecture at ‘AI World 2024’. He pointed out that AI nationalism is occurring worldwide, with countries like the US and China investing heavily in AI technology to reduce their dependence on other countries.

Trager emphasized the need for legitimate international standards to prevent the abuse of AI technology. He suggested introducing incentives for countries that adopt these standards, such as excluding AI products from countries that violate international standards from their domestic markets.
