BriTANick: Pioneers of Internet Comedy

The comedy duo BriTANicK, consisting of Brian McElhaney and Nick Kocher, has transitioned from their origins in internet sketch comedy to larger cinematic projects, including the film PIZZA MOVIE.

The duo, who first gained prominence through their YouTube channel and various comedic websites, have built a career based on writing, directing, editing, and acting in their own content.

Origins and Career Development

Brian McElhaney and Nick Kocher first met in Atlanta, Georgia, at the Atlanta Workshop Players Performing Arts Camp. They later attended New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts together, starting in 2004.

While students at New York University, they began creating and performing videos. They officially began performing as BriTANicK in 2008, notably opening for Robin Williams at the SF Sketchfest.

The name BriTANicK is a combination of the names Brian and Nick, along with the word Titanic.

Professional Recognition and Live Performance

They also received a nomination from Comedy Central’s inaugural Comedy Awards for best web video.

Beyond digital media, McElhaney and Kocher have maintained a presence in live performance. They have performed three distinct shows at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in New York, titled Begging for Approval, The Infinity Prison, and a monthly live show called The Monthly Mankerthon.

The duo has expanded their creative output into traditional film and television. In 2012, BriTANicK appeared in Joss Whedon’s adaptation of Much Ado About Nothing.
