Family Vacation Turns to Crisis in Tokyo

Carmelita Lakdesha Paul arrived in Japan on July 21 expecting a family holiday with her parents and older brother. Instead, the 12-year-old British girl has vanished.

She was last seen on August 12 at the family’s Tokyo accommodation. Her father told authorities he spoke with her that very night, noting her behavior showed nothing suspicious before she disappeared the following morning.

The Final Sightings and CCTV Trail

The formal missing persons report was filed with local police at 9:30 a.m. on August 13. Closed-circuit television footage quickly placed the schoolgirl in the Kamata district near where the family was staying.

On the morning of August 13, the cameras captured her walking through the neighborhood. She wore a blue sleeveless top, a black and white skirt, and black pumps, and carried a pink handbag.

Boarding a Train South Toward Yokohama

Police tracking data shows Carmelita walked from the streets of Kamata directly into Kamata Station. From there, she boarded a train and traveled approximately 20 minutes south.

Investigators confirmed she arrived at Yokohama Station. Yet, investigators have been unable to trace her movements beyond that terminal.

Missing Essentials and Physical Description

Authorities noted critical details about her departure: the 12-year-old left behind both her passport and her mobile phone. Her family believes she stepped out with no more than a few thousand yen, amounting to roughly £70.

Carmelita stands 5 feet 3 inches tall. She has a medium build and curly dark hair.

Consular Support and Police Appeal

The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office has stepped in to assist the relatives.
