A British tourist traveling through Kintamani with his son discovered a 49-year-old local farmer lying dead beneath a motorcycle along a remote plantation road on Tuesday, October 6, 2026.
The incident occurred at 3 p.m. Central Indonesia Time on a plantation road leading toward Pondokan Dadem in Sukawana Village, Bangli. The victim was identified as Ketut Selamat.
Discovery Along a Plantation Road
British national Mike Lambrou, 55, from Manchester, was riding a motorcycle with his child through an off-road route in the forest and plantation area around Sukawana when he noticed a person lying beneath a red Honda Beat motorcycle on the side of the road. Lambrou stopped, approached the man, and moved the motorcycle away from the body. After checking for a pulse and believing the man was already dead, Lambrou headed toward the main road to find help.
He encountered a local resident, Jro Widiarta, on Jalan Raya Siakin and explained what he had found. Widiarta followed Lambrou back to the location, where Selamat was confirmed to be unresponsive. The discovery was subsequently reported to the police, the victim’s family, and the customary village head.
Police Find Motorcycle Caused Victim's Injuries
Officers from Kintamani Police and Bangli Police arrived at the scene to conduct an examination alongside medical personnel. Bangli Police Chief AKBP Anggun Adhika Putra stated that findings showed several injuries on the victim’s body caused by the motorcycle falling on him.
“The witness, Lambrou, moved the motorcycle that was on top of the victim. He then checked the victim’s pulse, believing he was already dead,” Adhika said. “The witness then went straight to the main road to seek help from passing motorists.”
Police observed injuries including a fracture at the back of the skull, bruising around the right eye, and bleeding from the nose and ears. An autopsy was carried out to determine the precise cause of death, and authorities are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
