Court Appearance and Legal Charges in Alanya
Officers from the southern Antalya province responded to the hotel, placed the tourist in luminous yellow shorts and a blue vest into custody, and transported him to the Alanya courthouse, as detailed by The Sun. A judge formally charged the holidaymaker with insulting the symbols of the state’s sovereignty. The defendant required a translator to deliver his statement before the court. Following the hearing, authorities remanded him in custody and transferred him to Alanya L-Type Closed Prison. Under Article 300 of the Turkish penal code, publicly disrespecting or degrading the Turkish flag is a criminal offense carrying a maximum prison sentence of up to three years.
