Broadway Star Runs NYC Marathon, Performs in ‘Wicked‘ Same Day
Jordan Litz, a Broadway actor, demonstrated unusual endurance on Sunday, November 3, 2024, by completing the New York City Marathon and then performing in two shows of “Wicked” at the Gershwin Theater.
Litz finished the 26.2-mile race in three hours and 40 minutes, maintaining an 8:26 pace per mile, a commendable time for any runner. Rather than rest, he immediately transitioned to his stage commitments.
From Central park to the Stage
After crossing the finish line in Central Park, Litz traveled approximately 20 blocks south to the Gershwin Theater in midtown Manhattan.He then performed as Fiyero in the 2 p.m. matinee performance of “Wicked.” He followed that with the 7 p.m. evening performance.
“Best ‘Dancing Through Life’ in Weeks”
“If I had sat down, I wouldn’t have gotten back up,” Litz told NBC Nightly News. He described his evening performance of “Dancing Through Life” as “one of the best [performances] I’ve done in weeks!” and jokingly suggested he might need to run a marathon more often. NBC News reported on his post-race assessment.
A Legacy for His Daughters
Litz expressed hope that his accomplishment would inspire his daughters. “Hopefully, my daughters will look at this accomplishment someday and be like ‘My dad ran the New York City Marathon and did two shows on Broadway. I can do anything,'” he said, according to NBC News.
Demonstrating his commitment to endurance events, Litz has already registered for the 2026 New York City Marathon. NBC News confirmed his future participation.
