BEREA, Ohio—Wide receiver Diontae Johnson is steadfast to reshape his image after a tumultuous ⁤2024 season. ⁤Now with the Cleveland browns, Johnson seeks to re-establish himself as a ⁣reliable NFL target.

Johnson’s 2024 saw him move between the Carolina ⁢Panthers, baltimore Ravens, adn Houston texans.⁤ after a promising start with the Panthers, he was traded to Baltimore, where he saw limited action⁤ and ‍faced a suspension. Houston claimed him briefly before waiving him after a playoff game.

The⁤ Browns signed Johnson, ‍28, to a one-year contract. He said Cleveland was the only team to reach ⁣out during ⁢free agency.

The Browns hope ⁢Johnson can ⁣fill a meaningful need at receiver, complementing Jerry Jeudy. Johnson and Jeudy ‍are the only Browns receivers with a 50+ ⁣reception season to their names.

Browns coach Kevin Stefanski noted⁤ Johnson’s⁣ progress. “Diontae’s doing a nice job getting‍ up to speed,” Stefanski said. “It’s good⁢ to have him out here.”

⁣ ⁤ “I don’t ⁢want to speak on a ‍lot ⁢of stuff,” Johnson said. “Last year is last year. I’m trying to change⁣ that narrative and move the right way and keep going.”

Johnson, a former Pro Bowler with the Pittsburgh Steelers, amassed 391 receptions for 4,363 yards and 25 touchdowns during his time there. He⁤ believes he can recapture that form.

‍ “I’m still in that form,”⁢ Johnson said. “It’s just a matter of whenever I get⁤ my opportunities to put it on film.”

What’s next

Johnson ⁢will compete for ‍a prominent role in the ⁤Browns’ offense during ⁣training camp, aiming to prove he⁤ can still be a productive receiver in the NFL and contribute to the team’s success.
