Incident Overview
Actor Raymond Cruz, known for his roles as Tuco Salamanca in “Breaking Bad” and Detective julio Sanchez in “The Closer” and “Major Crimes,” was held by the Los Angeles Police Department for approximately five hours on Monday, September 8, 2025, following a disagreement with three women in his Silver Lake neighborhood.
According to his agent, Raphael Berko of media Artists Group, the incident began when Cruz was washing his car on a residential street. A vehicle occupied by three women parked very close to his, possibly obstructing his car washing.
The Dispute and Police involvement
Cruz requested the women, estimated to be in their 30s, to move their car a short distance to avoid getting it wet. Berko stated the women refused, despite available parking elsewhere on the street, and began recording Cruz with their mobile phones.
Feeling uncomfortable, Cruz turned to ask them to stop recording, and in the process, some water from his hose may have splashed onto the women. The women alleged that Cruz intentionally sprayed them and subsequently contacted the police, reporting an alleged assault.
Police arrived and handcuffed Cruz, taking him into custody. One of the women involved was later identified as the daughter of a housekeeper employed in the neighborhood.
Legal Status and Future Proceedings
berko characterized the situation as a misunderstanding and confirmed that Cruz has no prior criminal record. He and Cruz anticipate the case will be dropped.
Cruz is currently scheduled for a court hearing on October 1, 2025.As of Tuesday afternoon, September 9, 2025, online records do not indicate any formal charges have been filed against him.
