The singers saluted as they exited the military base in Chuncheon City on Tuesday.Approximately 200 fans from around the globe, including Mexico,Turkey, and Brazil, gathered to welcome them back.
Reina Lorena Quintero Sevilla, traveling from Mexico city, expressed her excitement. She said the 18-hour flight “didn’t feel that long as we’re so excited to be here…in the home towns of our boys, who we love, who we adore.”
RM and V began their service in December 2023. Jin and J-Hope were discharged earlier this year, in June and October, respectively. Jimin and JungKook are scheduled to be discharged Wednesday. Suga is currently fulfilling his service as a social service agent and will be released later this month. The BTS members’ commitment to their national duty has been closely followed by their global fanbase.

South Korea mandates that able-bodied men between 18 and 28 serve in the military for 18 to 21 months. This conscription system is in place to deter potential aggression from North Korea. While exemptions exist for some athletes and artists who enhance national prestige, K-pop stars were not initially included.
The National Assembly revised the Military Service Act, allowing K-pop stars to postpone their service until age 30. Following public debate, BTS’s management agency announced in 2022 that all seven members would fulfill their military duties.
What’s next
With all members expected to complete their service in the coming months, BTS is aiming for a full group reunion in 2025, much to the delight of their dedicated fanbase worldwide. The return of this influential K-pop group is highly anticipated.
