23XI racing’s Day Ends in Disaster at Pocono Due to Brake Failures

Pocono Raceway was the site of a disastrous NASCAR Cup race for 23XI racing, as brake problems led to two wrecks and a subpar finish for their remaining driver.
Riley Herbst triggered the first caution on Lap 41 when his No.35 Toyota slammed into the wall. Initially suspected as a flat tire, the cause was soon revealed to be brake failure.Just 13 laps later, Bubba Wallace experienced an even more violent crash when a brake rotor exploded on his No. 23 Toyota.
Both Wallace and Herbst were uninjured but unable to continue. Wallace finished 36th, and Herbst 37th, each earning only one point.

Wallace Describes Brake Failure
“The brakes just went to the floor,” Wallace said. He explained he was preparing to battle Chris buescher and Austin Cindric when the brake pedal failed. “By the time I was ready to touch the pedal it just went to the floor and the brakes exploded,” Wallace added, lamenting the misfortune after recent strong runs. “I hate it for my guys. I hate it for McDonald’s.”
Wallace acknowledged the challenges of racing at Pocono and the team’s strategy to conserve for the end. “We were going to just take our lumps and march our way through and set ourselves up for the end of the race, but the brakes just didn’t want to hang on that long,” he said.
The DNF pushes Wallace closer to the playoff cut line, now only 29 points above. Herbst echoed Wallace’s surprise at the brake issue. “Getting into (Turn) one, the brakes just went to the floor. A brake rotor exploded and I was along for the ride with our Monster Energy Camry XSE,” Herbst said.
Tyler Reddick, the remaining 23XI Racing driver, was alerted to the brake concerns. The No. 45 team brought Reddick’s car in for inspection, hoping to prevent a similar incident.Reddick managed to finish, but was scored in 32nd place.
