Budget Boost: Romania Sees Record 46.5 Billion Lei Revenue Surge

ANAF’s Budget Revenue Collection for the⁤ First Eight Months of 2024

The National Agency for Financial Administration (ANAF) has reported a significant increase in budget revenue collection for the first eight months of 2024. The net budget revenue collected during this period amounts to 300.66 billion lei, representing ⁤a 118.3% nominal⁢ increase compared to the same period in 2023.

This increase translates to 46.52 billion lei more than in the similar period in 2023, despite the VAT refund of 0.09 billion lei over ⁢the refund-payments from ‌the first eight months of the previous year. ‍The‌ budget revenue collection program for the first⁤ eight months of 2024 has been achieved ⁢at 101.2%, exceeding the program communicated by the Ministry of Finance by 3.59 billion lei.

Key Highlights of the Budget Revenue ‍Collection

  • The share in GDP⁣ of the net revenue collected by ANAF accumulated in⁤ 8 months‍ 2024 is 17.01%, an increase of 1.18⁢ percentage⁢ points compared to 2023.
  • The‌ most significant increase in receipts was recorded in the categories of taxes, fees, and contributions that came under the‍ scope of recent legislative changes.

Breakdown of ⁣the Increase in Budget Revenue Collection

  • Contribution to the⁣ social health insurance budget: 11.25 ‍billion lei, an increase ⁤of ​138.54%
  • Contribution to the state social insurance ⁤budget: 8.21 billion lei, an increase of 113.4%
  • Value added tax: 8.49 billion lei, an increase of⁣ 114.73%
  • Income tax: 5.87 billion lei, an increase of 121.95%
  • Profit tax: 4.09 billion lei, an increase of 120.33%
  • Excise duties: 3.7 billion lei, an increase of 116.4%

August Activity Highlights

The net budget revenue collected by ANAF in August 2024 was 36.11 billion lei, representing a 120.1% nominal increase compared to August 2023.

  • This achievement represents 104.32% of the budget revenue collection ‍program, exceeding the program communicated by the Ministry of Finance by​ 1.49 billion⁤ lei.
  • The most significant progress in the collection of budgetary revenue was recorded in‍ the contribution to the‍ social health insurance budget, value added tax, excise duties, and income tax.

August Breakdown of the Increase in Budget Revenue Collection

  • Contribution to the social health insurance budget: 1.35 billion lei, an increase of 136.5%
  • Contribution to the state social insurance⁣ budget: 0.58 billion ​lei, an increase of 106.9%
  • Value added‍ tax: 2.11​ billion lei, ‌an increase of 127.7%
  • Excise⁢ duties: 1.05 billion lei, an increase of 133.9%
  • Income tax: 0.72 billion lei, ​an increase of 123.6%
