Buffalo Trace Distillery opened the John G. Carlisle Cafe on May 11, 2026. Located inside the Elmer T. Lee Clubhouse, the cafe serves as the distillery’s first permanent dining space for guests.

The cafe is open daily from 11 a.m. To 3 p.m. And offers a made-to-order lunch menu that includes salads, sandwiches, and desserts. All visitors are required to check in at the Freehouse Welcome Center before visiting the cafe.

Opening Celebration Events

To mark the opening of the facility, Buffalo Trace Distillery scheduled a series of special events running from May 11 through May 31, 2026. These events do not require special reservations.

On Mondays, including May 11, May 18, and May 25, the distillery is hosting Free Meal Mondays. For these events, the first 100 guests are eligible to eat for free. Meal vouchers for this offer are distributed each morning at the Freehouse Welcome Center while supplies last, and the offers are provided on a first-come, first-served basis.

Tuesdays during the celebration period—specifically May 12, May 19, and May 26—feature an open house event called From the Archives. These events take place from 12 p.m. To 2 p.m. And are led by Lead Archivist Nick Laracuente. The programming includes historical highlights of the John G. Carlisle Cafe and a curated archives display located on the second floor of the Elmer T. Lee Clubhouse.

On Wednesdays, May 13, May 20, and May 27, the distillery is holding Whiskey Wednesdays. Throughout these days, the venue provides complimentary samples of E.H. Taylor, Jr. Four Grain.

The John G. Carlisle Cafe is situated in a space designed to showcase nearly a century of Buffalo Trace history. According to the distillery, the cafe is positioned at the heart of the property, providing a location for guests to dine after distillery tours or for special occasions.
