Sarah Michelle Gellar, the original “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” hopes for a meaningful reunion in the upcoming Hulu reboot. Gellar envisions bringing back characters from the original 1997 series, even those who met their demise.
Gellar told Vanity Fair Italia that the new “Buffy the vampire Slayer reboot” will aim for a lighter tone then the original’s later seasons. She emphasized balancing new and old characters, expressing her desire to resurrect deceased characters while introducing fresh storylines.
Hulu is nearing a pilot order for the “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” sequel series. Ryan Kiera armstrong has been cast as the series lead. Gellar will appear in the pilot and continue in a recurring role as Buffy.
Gellar praised Armstrong’s casting.”From the moment I saw Ryan’s audition, I knew there was only one girl that I wanted by my side,” Gellar said. “To have that kind of emotional intelligence, and talent, at such a young age is truly a gift. The bonus is that her smile lights up even the darkest room.”
Nora and Lila Zuckerman will write, showrun, and executive produce the “buffy” reboot. Gellar will also executive produce alongside Gail Berman.Fran and Kaz Kuzui will executive produce under suite B,with Dolly Parton executive producing under Sandollar. 20th Television and Searchlight Television are producing the series.Berman, the Kuzuis, and Parton all held executive producer roles in the original series.
