Building a Brighter Future: Central Bank of Egypt Joins Forces with ‘A New Beginning for Human Building’ Initiative
Implementing Pioneering Projects in Social Responsibility and Financial Inclusion
Within 100 Days
Several projects have been implemented to promote social responsibility and financial inclusion within 100 days, including:
- Elimination of waiting lists for medical procedures
- Development of university hospitals
- Equipping the first national center for liver transplantation
- Development of technical schools
- Opening of bank accounts at no cost
- Microcredit and financial awareness initiatives
The Central Bank of Egypt, in cooperation with the banking sector, has participated in the financing and implementation of these priority projects as part of the “A New Beginning for Human Building” initiative.
Supporting Development Efforts
The Central Bank is committed to supporting the development efforts of the state in all areas by launching pioneering initiatives to advance society and improve the quality of life of citizens.
Mr. Hassan Abdullah, Governor of the Central Bank of Egypt, stated that the bank’s participation in the “A New Beginning for Human Building” initiative includes several promising projects with a real impact in the health, education, and financial inclusion sectors.
Health and Education Projects
The Central Bank’s efforts in the “A New Beginning for Human Building” initiative include:
- Installing stents and catheters and performing open-heart surgery
- Providing 4,000 joints for orthopedic surgery
- Eliminating waiting lists for medical procedures in collaboration with the Ministry of Health
- Financing the cost of many surgical operations, including corneal transplant surgery
- Developing university hospitals, including the construction of new buildings and improvement of existing ones
- Equipping the first national center for liver transplantation in Egypt and the Middle East
- Developing technical schools for applied technology in collaboration with the Egyptian Federation of Industries and the Ministry of Education
- Awarding scholarships to several Egyptian universities
Financial Inclusion Activities
The Central Bank’s participation in the “A New Beginning for Human Building” initiative has expanded to include many activities implemented through the Financial Inclusion Sector, including:
- Opening bank accounts at no cost
- Issuing prepaid cards and mobile phone wallets
- Promoting banking products and providing financing for micro-enterprises
- Organizing various activities for financial awareness and education in coordination with relevant ministries, agencies, and organizations
